Well, the forecast is for temps to start rising out of the deep freeze this week, but spring is still a LONG way away. So, in the interest of providing warming rum recipes to get us through this extra cold winter, here is a rum, coffee and chocolate offering. What’s not to like about that combo??
Hot Rum & Chocolate Coffee
1. 5 cups hot coffee
1/4 cup whole milk
2 tsp. sugar
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. of nutmeg
1.75 oz. gold or spiced rum (we used Mount Gay Eclipse)
Grated chocolate for garnish (we used Ghiradelli 72%)
In a saucepan over low heat, stir together the hot coffee, whole milk and sugar until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is nice and warm. Add the cinnamon, nutmeg and rum and stir again until warm. Pour into a mug and top with grated chocolate (and whipped cream, if you wish!)
If you want to make the drink even more chocolately, add 1 tsp of chocolate sauce to the saucepan with the coffee, whole milk and sugar.
